Well Dave and Rose have both mentioned meeting dead ghost teen ancestor trolls from before the scratch on their journey to the new session, so I can only assume so. I mean I would imagine the concept itself holds true across all sessions ever played, but it sounds like yes: the trolls had to scratch too.
