[John seems somehow distracted when he turns on the video today. He's sitting at the kitchen table in his house, chin propped in his hand and eyes on a Pokéball he's rolling idly on the table in front of him.]

You ever wonder what it is that determines what happens to a Pokémon after its trainer goes back home? I mean, I've thought about it before but never really thought about it if that makes any sense? This is really the first time I've inherited one that wasn't from a friend so it just got me thinking.

Granted, it originally belonged to someone who was... [He pauses, seeming almost hesitant to finish that sentence. Or perhaps unsure of how he wants to end it.] ...a friend. At...one point in time... [He trails off, brow furrowing as he stops rolling the ball around.] So maybe it has less to do with Eridan and more to do with her.

[He leans his chair back on two legs, picking the ball up and passing it back and forth between his hands, finally looking at the camera.]

So yeah. Anybody have any good conspiracy theories on the matter? I'm curious.

[Wow who does that. ...Ninjas would do that, actually. Tenten would, at least. But her stakes are a little less dire considering that she's already given her love confession, of a sort.]

I guess I'm lucky I haven't had that happen to me. Or... maybe it's unlucky. I mean, I haven't been near someone when they disappeared. The closest was Evan, I guess, but even then, we weren't traveling together or anything.

I don't know. I am kind of glad it happens, though. Otherwise, how else would we know?

Maybe that's all that matters to them. This world seems more natural than most environments, and very concerned with the bond between people and Pokemon, so focusing on that is a higher priority to them than video games.

actually...now that i'm thinking about it, that aspect of it is something that's sort of happened before too, i think.

Well yeah, but still! It's just the principle of the matter. But Pokémon are more fun than video games anyway so I guess I can't really complain.

It sounds familiar. With the Shedinja? A few people mentioned that to me.

Like I know that if I go here are a few people that I would like to have certain pokémon... So maybe the pokémon carry out those wishes themselves?

according to the people who had their souls stolen, they wound up in a sort of weird, dream-like world.
or nightmare like, in some cases i guess.
maybe this was something similar? though i don't think any of us got our souls stolen.
there's a pretty distinct difference between a souless body and a coma body, and going off of what the people who were awake here said, we were all the latter.

[Before John has finished saying ready, Dave is moving. He covers the distance in no time at all as he comes at John from the right. He aims his fist for John's stomach, intending to get a blow in so he can access what John knows and what he doesn't.]

[[Withdrawing her hand, B'gnu stares at it for a moment, then stares up at John with an unreadable expression. And then, after a few moments of that, she shifts this stare to Prick who simply pats her head in response.

She is severely lost and confused on the entire purpose of that.]]

[[Prick's attention is back on John and he waddles over there, giving his side a pat, almost like he's trying to comfort him about whatever it is that's bothering him. There are also copious nuzzles from Yidhra as well.

It's quite possible. They rely on other senses above our own... scent and sound, to say the least. There are myriad ways of remembering one when the mind itself falters.

The bonds of the heart cannot be denied. If one has touched the heart of another, even if there is distance between them they will ever be connected.

so maybe that's how they find their way back. maybe they're more in-tun with that bond than we are or maybe it's like...

[John returns Yidhra's nuzzles, resting a hand on top of Prick's head, rubbing it. ~~TEE HEE~~]

I'm okay guys, really. I'm just being stupid. [He bumps his nose against Yidhra.]

Oh but...don't tell your mom I said that, okay? She needs to keep thinking I'm at least halfway intelligent, hehe.

[He looks over at Bee. Oh, Bee. You precious confused little thing. John pats his lap.]

Do you think that's really the case? That so long as something comes out right in the end, things in general are all right?

well, no it's not always so straightforward.
sometimes there are multiple somethings that have to be alright first.
but maybe i'm just splitting hairs there.
so maybe i actually do think like that? i mean i would say things are pretty ok on the whole right now.

but in the case it was more just...a feeling.
like when we woke back up, did it not feel to you like...everything was just right with the world?
it was hard to explain, but i know i'm not the only one who felt that way.
it's not as strong a feeling now though.

It seems as though it might be related to the way things felt before that event, doesn't it? That persistent sense of foreboding, suddenly alleviated.

I presume that means we did something right.

It's...a little of both, to be honest. I mean, on the one hand you know pretty much instantaneously. There's no chance of going a couple of days without knowing if you don't check your box every day. But on the other, it's a lot more heartbreaking to see them that way.

But yeah, same. Though I really wish there was like...a way for us to have conscious control over coming and going. Then it would never be a surprise. And people who wanted to go home could do so easily, while those of us who don't could just stay here forever without having to worry...

[Okay so that's a yes He should have seen that one coming. Though Dave, what were you thinking? Coming at a leftie from the right? Or is that because you're testing him? Either way, John swings his left fist hard towards Dave's midsection. As promised, he's holding absolutely nothing back. Well, of what strength this world has left him with, at least. Which is probably a good thing for Dave. Who knows what MANGRIT levels that high can do to a human body when concentrated into a punch.]

[Chances are, they'll end up hitting each other in the same place at about the same time. Because John's not doing anything to actually block Dave's fist and he's much slower on the whole. But unlike his eye, there's a bit more meat in John's stomach. Muscle meat. That memory coma did some pretty impressive things to John's physique, to be sure. Built like a brick shithouse now instead of a squishy doughboy.]

Yeah, it sure seems that way. It's not something you really give a whole lot of thought to until it happens a couple of times though. Because it's easy enough to write it off as chance until you start to notice that certain aspects of it are just a little too coincidental.

Or well...maybe it's just me who didn't question it for the longest time.
