prank #42 | video BACKDATED TO 5/19
[The feed turns on to a view of what is clearly the inside of a clothing store, judging by all the colorful display racks scattered about. From somewhere off screen, there are two male voices.]
I still can't believe you picked that. It's like exactly the same thing Rose put you in. You have to admit you're basically just fueling that fire. Making it roar high and shit. She'll remind you. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Are you blind or do you just need to take your shades off for a minute? This is nothing like that lacy Goth Lollipop or whatever it's called style that Rose put me in. It's much simpler! Do you see any frills on this? I sure don't.
Point is, similar dress style. I warned you. All I'm saying.
Wrong. But whatever we are both ready so let's do this. Casey, camera please!
[There's a squeak from the Lopunny operating the camera as the frame shifts, revealing two teenage boys wearing things that clearly came off racks not meant for them. This is exactly what you wanted to see today, right? Boys in dresses? Of course it was.]
[To the left stands Dave, whose hair is still as brightly pink and as in need of a trim as it was a week ago. It falls past his ears, and has been swept to the left side of his face. He's wearing a long, dark red dress which covers his chest but leaves his shoulders bare. When he moves just right, you can see a slit up the side. All in all, it pretty much neutralizes the harder lines of his body and proving two things. One: Dave can actually pull of androgynous pretty damn well. And two: he takes after his mom more than anybody probably thought.]
[Next to him stands John, and it's one of those moments where you can really tell just how short the kid actually is. Because Dave has a good half a foot on him and somehow the contrast between John's stockier frame and Dave's lankier one only exaggerates this difference. His dress is a simple light blue pinafore dress that falls to his knees. Under the dress is a long-sleeved, white dress shirt with a baby doll collar tied together with a dark blue ribbon. He's managed to (somewhat) tame his hair, adorning it with a light blue headband to match the dress.]
So here's the deal. John seems to think he pulls this off better. We all know he's way wrong.
I think you mean "we all know John is way right." Fixed it for you.
Spoilers: You're totally wrong.
It's astounding, how wrong you are about everything today. Just wow, I did not know it was possible for one person to be so wrong, so many times, in such a short period.
[Before Dave gets a chance to retort or either of them gets the chance to explicitly say what the point of all this was, the feed ends. But surely the point got across: who makes a better girl?]
((ooc: probably goes without saying, but red is Dave and blue is John. Responses will come from both.))

So... Easter. Eggs from bunnies and candy. Right. It does sound like useful training, though, making the kids work to find their stuff. We've had to do scavenger hunts and stuff like that, except our stuff would be guarded and trapped before we could get to it. And it usually wasn't candy, either.
And Christmas... it sounds kind of like our end of the year winter festival that we hold, except it's not so much a thing for kids as it is a holiday for like... couples, I guess. The holiday that's for family is Shougatsu, New Year's? And that's around the same time of year.
It's kind of weird that you have this guy who's supposed to give you presents though. I mean, why would you teach a bunch of kids to trust some strange figure who just comes around once a year to maybe give you things? I mean, I'd probably want to teach my kids to set traps to catch whoever would try to break into my house.
Okay, but before I forget, Hinamatsuri and White Day. Hinamatsuri is always right before my birthday, March 3rd. It's a girls' festival, where you dress up nice and put up tiers of all these little dolls for the holiday, make special food, that kind of thing. The dolls are dressed like daimyo and attendants and all of that.
And the White Day is basically a month after Valentine's Day. If a girl gives a guy chocolates or something for Valentine's, on White Day, a guy's supposed to give all the girls who've given him something a gift in return. It's kind of nice, I guess, but I never bothered to make anything for Valentine's, so obviously I never got anything for White Day. Besides, that one's only a couple days after my birthday too, so it's not a big deal.
[A shrug! And those are some of her holidays~]

We do New Year's too but it's... not really much of a holiday to be honest? More like a "yay! it's a new year! Let's make a bunch of promises to better ourselves in the upcoming year that we all know we're going to break within a week." type of deal. An excuse for adults to get drunk and party.
Yeah, okay I was right about White Day then. It's only something I have heard mentioned in passing really. Both genders do things for Valentine's Day in America, not just girls. Though it is somewhat thought of as a more girly holiday. Hinamatsuri is a completely new one on me though! We don't have anything like that stateside. I don't know if maybe other countries do. Since it sounds like your world has some commonalities with Japan in my world.

Oh, for us, we try to stay up as late as we can, until sunrise. For New Year's, I mean. Something about how it's supposed to bring good luck for the new year, but you just have to hope you're not on a mission or something. In that case, I usually would fight Neji and Lee for last watch so I could be the one to see the sunrise.
But yeah, next year, if we're still both around, let's celebrate Valentine's and White Day! It'll be fun. And maybe I can try to set up Hinamatsuri, it's kind of nice. As long as you don't mind dolls, sometimes they can be a little on the creepy side.
But Japan, Shiraishi-san has mentioned Japan to me before. Maybe I'll ask him about his traditions next time I talk to him, and report back!
