I never said I was more selfish than anyone. Merely that I was worried my selfishness may bother you. [John do you listen to her when she speaks to you?]

And it's not hard to think you're selfish when. [She stops there, frowning a little and looking down. She's having a hard time figuring out how to say this. Or maybe she just doesn't want to admit to it at all after what she's said previously. But when she does say it, it's with a completely defeated tone.]

When, for instance, there's a small part of you wishing to deny someone else the chance to be happy for the sake of your own comfort.
