prank #48 | video
[John seems somehow distracted when he turns on the video today. He's sitting at the kitchen table in his house, chin propped in his hand and eyes on a Pokéball he's rolling idly on the table in front of him.]
You ever wonder what it is that determines what happens to a Pokémon after its trainer goes back home? I mean, I've thought about it before but never really thought about it if that makes any sense? This is really the first time I've inherited one that wasn't from a friend so it just got me thinking.
Granted, it originally belonged to someone who was... [He pauses, seeming almost hesitant to finish that sentence. Or perhaps unsure of how he wants to end it.] ...a friend. At...one point in time... [He trails off, brow furrowing as he stops rolling the ball around.] So maybe it has less to do with Eridan and more to do with her.
[He leans his chair back on two legs, picking the ball up and passing it back and forth between his hands, finally looking at the camera.]
So yeah. Anybody have any good conspiracy theories on the matter? I'm curious.

From what I've seen, no one seems to have an explanation for the "orphaned Pokemon" phenomenon, though.
text;
i mean a pokemon is one thing, but a house is another.
i feel like that's the sort of thing you would have to arrange before you left, you know? like a will or something, but idk. how often does this world work rationally.
nah, i think it's just one of those great pokemon world mysteries that will probably never be explained.
but it's a pretty good phenomenon when you think about it.
at least those pokemon are potentially going to good homes.
text;
I'm surprised more people don't seem to do that, really. If it's a given that any of us might go home at any time someday, isn't it only natural to think about how you might want your belongings doled out once you're gone?
text;
i agree, but at the same time i can see why lots of people wouldn't bother.
because it's not all that uncommon for people to leave after only a couple of months. they might not really have anything from this world that they feel is worth leaving behind to someone.
though thanks for the reminder, i should probably do something like that now that i actually have a house.
not that i really plan on going anywhere but...just in case.
text;
Where is your house located?
text;
it's the same with our group too. some of us have been here for years, but others have come and gone in spurts of only a few months.
hell, we've had some who haven't even lasted more than a few weeks...
which seems like kid of a waste, in my opinion.
it's in ecruteak! why? where's yours?
Re: text;
In Goldenrod. Next door to the Breeding Center.
text;
like at least as far as my group goes.
it seems like we always come in groups, then go for a long period of time with little to no inbound/outbound action.
then a bunch of people end up leaving about the same time and there's another relatively stable period. then rinse and repeat from the top.
so it wouldn't really surprise me if there's some kind of...reset loop, for lack of a better term.
ahah, that's a pretty popular spot!
actually, we were almost neighbors.
rose and i had considered moving into the house the other father left behind in that general area.
but we both kind of wanted a change of scenery, so we opted for a different city. someplace we hadn't lived in for nearly a year already.
text;
[Come on, Kirigiri, you can do it, THIS ISN'T HARD...]
Maybe we can visit sometime.
text;
of course we can!
visitors are pretty much always welcome at la casa egbert-lalonde.
plus i think our respective friend circles are starting to overlap a little bit. haha.
text;
...
I assume you mean the incident with Dave?
text;
i just meant that i know he's talked to you and i know that rose has spoken with ishimaru.
and i've spoken with both of you and a couple other of your classmates too but anyway that's beside the point now.
did he rap at you?
or talk about his collection of preserved dead things? because he likes to do both of those things.
and i'm not sure which i would be more sorry about you possibly having to endure.
probably the rapping.
text;
It was a few weeks ago. The last week of October. He's good with a broken bottle, it seems.
The preserved dead things sound interesting, though.
text;
he didn't hurt you with said broken bottle, did he?
more like kinda weird, imo, but ok.
you should ask him about it sometime, he'd probably be all to happy to tell you about it.
text;
Or so it seemed at the time, anyway.
text;
not that i really thought he did but i just had to be sure. and this saves me from having to kick his butt later.
i'm assuming this was in the uh...castle. thing.
yes?
text;
I haven't been able to come up with an explanation for how it happened yet, but there's a fairly strong consensus that it did happen, at least.
text;
only instead of going home, we somehow all went to the same place??
actually...now that i'm thinking about it, that aspect of it is something that's sort of happened before too, i think.
i can't remember, did i mention the soul stealing thing the first time we talked? on your survey thing?
text;
text;
according to the people who had their souls stolen, they wound up in a sort of weird, dream-like world.
or nightmare like, in some cases i guess.
maybe this was something similar? though i don't think any of us got our souls stolen.
there's a pretty distinct difference between a souless body and a coma body, and going off of what the people who were awake here said, we were all the latter.
text;
...
He trained some of the Eevees to keep watch over us.
text;
the cutest little sentries.
but yeah, who really knows what caused it. at least everything turned out okay.
that's really what matters.
text;
Do you think that's really the case? That so long as something comes out right in the end, things in general are all right?
text;
sometimes there are multiple somethings that have to be alright first.
but maybe i'm just splitting hairs there.
so maybe i actually do think like that? i mean i would say things are pretty ok on the whole right now.
but in the case it was more just...a feeling.
like when we woke back up, did it not feel to you like...everything was just right with the world?
it was hard to explain, but i know i'm not the only one who felt that way.
it's not as strong a feeling now though.
text;
So I wasn't the only one.
It seems as though it might be related to the way things felt before that event, doesn't it? That persistent sense of foreboding, suddenly alleviated.
I presume that means we did something right.
