prank #48 | video
[John seems somehow distracted when he turns on the video today. He's sitting at the kitchen table in his house, chin propped in his hand and eyes on a Pokéball he's rolling idly on the table in front of him.]
You ever wonder what it is that determines what happens to a Pokémon after its trainer goes back home? I mean, I've thought about it before but never really thought about it if that makes any sense? This is really the first time I've inherited one that wasn't from a friend so it just got me thinking.
Granted, it originally belonged to someone who was... [He pauses, seeming almost hesitant to finish that sentence. Or perhaps unsure of how he wants to end it.] ...a friend. At...one point in time... [He trails off, brow furrowing as he stops rolling the ball around.] So maybe it has less to do with Eridan and more to do with her.
[He leans his chair back on two legs, picking the ball up and passing it back and forth between his hands, finally looking at the camera.]
So yeah. Anybody have any good conspiracy theories on the matter? I'm curious.

text; never let it be said that she doesn't isolate the most important tidbits
[Kirigiri...]
text; really glad i'm not drinking anything right now, tbh
[Surely, if he believes hard enough, that will make this statement all the more true. He tries not to think about the fact that her interest in tentacles most definitely extends beyond academic interest.]
[lalalalala not listening.]
text; for her next trick she will investigate a corpse's underwear for clues
There are plenty of Pokemon for her to study with those criteria, as far as I know.
text; at least it wasn't his socks though!
yes, see this is why i said i was thinking no further on the implications of that.
because i knew exactly what you were thinking and i don't want to think about that, especially since she HAS most of those pokemon.
[THANK YOU KIRIGIRI FOR THE MENTAL IMAGES HE DIDN'T WANT.]
text; no because that would be gross
[KIRIGIRI WILL YOU JUST STOP ALREADY FOR GOD'S SAKE]
text; the absolute grossest thing. ew. feet.
to literally anything else that isn't...this.
text;
I see he's been following this conversation.
text;
dave is the nosiest, most gossipy schoolgirl you will ever meet, true facts.
what about him?
text;
text;
well i am not sure what else to tell you about him.
except for don't fall for his cool guy act, he's actually a super lame dork. but i can tell you're a pretty smart cookie so you probably figured that out on your own by now.
oh, back on what we were talking about originally though.
does that happen to you a lot then?
this place doing things that makes it seem like it knows too much?
text;
...
It's happened more than I'm particularly comfortable with. Sometimes it's only small things, but others it's particularly significant.
text;
i wonder why it happens to you so much. is this why you did that survey a couple months back?
oh wait! wait!
i just remembered! there was one thing that happened that was a case of something here knowing more than it should that actually WAS kind of creepy.
i forget about this one a lot because it's kind of...backwards. which is the part that actually makes it creepy.
back in june, something happened to me here that i just thought was really annoying at the time.
then about a month later i fell into a memory coma and found out that nearly the exact same thing happened to me back home as well.
so...basically this place knew something about me that even *I* didn't know about at the time.
[John...how could you forget about something like this? TWICE even? Because he probably should have included this in Kirigiri's survey...]
text;
So it predicted something that was going to happen to you, but that by your perception hadn't yet.
...
That is unsettling.
text;
really the only thing that was different was the fact that i wasn't temporally bound back home.
here, i always moved forward in time with my zapping, but i could end up pretty much anywhere.
back home, i could end up anywhere or anywhen, because i definitely saw myself in the past at one point.
and some other things that i'm...pretty sure had already happened from my perspective.
but that's a pretty minor difference, honestly.

it was one of those moments where this world just kind of...starts acting up.
when powers come back and all that, it usually happens twice a year.
only last time, something must have gone a little wrong because things were still borked up after the usual three days.
a friend of mine compared it to glitching.
but i caught what i thought was a pokemon but apparently it was...something else.
and after i boxed it, i started warping everywhere.
so maybe it was just a coincidence but...
it was still really weird.

Text;
I would have continued letting him assume you were.
It's really amusing.
