So did anybody know that it's possible for Pokémon to be deaf?
[While John looks more or less fine, when he speaks there's a definite sort of half-squeaky grogginess to his voice that suggests he's only just recently gotten it back. Someone was pretty damn sick over New Year's (on his deathbed, one would think, the way he carried on) and has only just recently gotten over it. But at least his nose finally stopped running and he's done coughing. His lost voice just has yet to find its way back to him entirely.]
[He's sitting on the floor of his living room, leaning back against the couch. He's not looking at the camera, though. Instead, he's smiling somewhat fondly at a cheerful-looking Gothita playing with a squiddle doll a few feet away from him. She's chewing on one of the tentacles, giggling a little with her back to John.]
I feel like it really shouldn't be so surprising. I just never really stopped to think about it being a Thing That Could Happen, you know? [He turns his attention to the camera, finally.]
Anyway, so how was everyone's New Year? I missed ringing it in, myself.
[Time to play catch-up since he's been out of the loop for like a week now and fuck checking all the network backlog.]

I'd wonder why that is, but ta be honest, I doubt I'd much understand a bit of it anyway. Think I'll just travel about and wait for the rest a my troupe ta come here.

Beast is who I'm really hopin' ta see next- she wanted ta have a talk, but as ya can see, that got a bit postponed! [By coming to Johto. And also dying. Actually, the dying is the main cause.] Most beautiful gal you'll ever see, bright red eyes, brown hair that's kinda on the darkish side- [He waves his hand kind of in the direction about his head.] Curls! She was our beast tamer, and I can't think of a better place for her than here!

[He pauses, suddenly considering something. Doll had always preferred to keep a bit of a double life as it were, switching between boy and girl quite casually for her acts and then for just blending in. It had made her happy, so Joker had always stayed quiet and gone along with it. Would it be right to give up the game? Well, it would just be so that someone could keep an eye out for her- after that, they could keep the secret again when the circus got all started once more.]
Well, this one is a bit more tricky. Either yer lookin' out fer Freckles, who has short brown hair and blue eyes and's a boy, or Doll, who has a white rose wig and dresses in white. That's our tightrope walker. Tends to keep the left eye covered best as possible.

[But moving on.]
It'd be fittin' if Wendy and Peter came together- they were partners for the acrobatic act. They're both short, ah, around this high. [He gestures somewhere around his waist.] She'll have light brown hair in buns, and brown eyes. Him, he has real thick blond hair and green eyes.
Jumbo's the opposite. Reaaaal tall, good bit a muscle on him. No hair, but plenty a fire tattoos. Fittin', since he was our fire eater! He's a nice guy, don't let his looks chase ya off.
That just leaves Dagger last- don't be surprised if he starts askin' for Beast a bunch. He did somethin' ta his hair ta make most of it blond, but there's a splash a black in his bangs, and he has brown hair. Best knife thrower in England, I'd swear on it.
