[As per the norm, it appears as though John's Rotom is handling the camera today. John's laying on his stomach in his backyard, idly poking at an cheerful looking ~~Goomy~~ Bloober with his finger. The Pokémon makes a weird sort of giggle, wiggling like a plate of jell-o.]

[Though it seems like that's not the only new friend John's managed to make. There are a few more slowly oozing their way over his back, one chewing on one of his shoelaces, and several more just milling around his yard in general. A male Jellicent and Altaria can be seen several feet away as well, apparently trying to keep the little visitors damp and happy with rain dance. It's working fairly well, from the looks of things.]

[It's also keeping a certain excitable Omanyte happy as well. Rain dance AND lots of new slimy buddies? Best.]

Happy little blobs aren't they? I like them. [He tickles the one in front of him, eliciting more burbly giggles from the little slimemon.] I kind of just want to keep this whole little herd that stumbled into our backyard earlier this morning. [A beat.] Or would glob be more appropriate? A glob of Bloobers, yeah I think that sounds better. If that IS actually what they're called, that is.

Assuming nothing weird happens and they DO end up staying with use permanently, I'm kind of looking forward to getting to train one blind. Should be fun. [He would...not be surprised if this was some more weird-ass temporary bullshit. Upset, yes. But not surprised.] Though is anybody else having trouble getting information out of them? I had some of my psychic types try and bridge the communication gap but it ended up being a no-go.

Hmm... [He tugs at his Bloober's face a little bit. Because this will clearly get the darn thing to reveal all of its secrets.]

Oh, right! [He lets go of his Bloober and looks up at the camera.] Happy early Valentine's Day! I hope everyone has a...goo-d one.

[EH. EH? GET IT? GOO-D? You know, because Bloobers?]

But yeah, my Mr. Mime hasn't had any trouble with the understanding part. It's more the fact that apparently they're somewhat...simple. According to him, anyway.

...On second thought, let us forget the puns and concentrate on the strange species. And that is exactly what I meant when I said he understood them. The rest of my Psychic-types refuse to try speaking with them again, out of fear that their simpleness might be contagious.

I guess it's just as well. That's kind of half the fun of all this, don't you think? Having to figure it out on our own.

It will make for an interesting project, but what I cannot understand is why this particular new species is treated differently from the others. Plenty have appeared in Johto and Kanto before, and the Pokédex had no trouble identifying them.

Yeah...that's kinda weird. Actually...now that I think about it, it was Valentine's Day the last time new species showed up too, wasn't it. [He scratches his chin.]

Hmm...maybe our Pokédexes need an upgrade?

...You're right. I found Fu's egg two years ago, and the previous wave of new species started appearing not too long after that. Could they even be improved, considering the locals' confusion about those flans?

Well I guess in another two years we'll know if it's a coincidence or not.

I assume that somebody had to update the data last time though. And every time before that when a new species showed up. They may be confused now and...kind of incompetent about other things [Like where eggs come from...] but you have to admit, somebody out there is good at figuring out shit about Pokémon and putting it into an electronic handheld database.

They are quite efficient when it comes to noting down moves or basic statistics, I'll give them that. But some of those descriptions were obviously written by someone with a taste for exaggeration or a dislike of fact-checking.

Ahaha...yeah. Some of the entries are kinda...imaginative. Like I can say with utmost certainty that being licked by a Haunter won't kill you. Unless they have some kind of special death lick that Slimer has just avoided using on me because he likes me.

[He would be dead so many times over by now if that particular entry was true.]

Neither of my Gardevoirs have ever shown any inclination to create black holes in my defense. I've no idea if I should be glad or disappointed by that.

Maybe you just haven't been in nearly enough mortal peril yet? But...I'm thinking maybe you shouldn't test that.

Perhaps I should have brought them along when I found myself lost in the Cinnabar volcano. That was perilous enough. But waiting for one of Chaos' warriors to come to this world would work just as well.
