[The sight greeting you when John's pokegear clicks on today?]

[Yup. That sure is a freshly-hatched Nosepass sitting in the grass in front of John's legs. They have to be John's legs, because who else in Johto wears bright red shoes with flames on them? Seems for once he's filming his own post.]

So that mysterious egg that I asked about a while back finally hatched. I still have no idea where this thing came from, but I am beginning to think that it belonged to someone who is no longer here. But anyway. Yeah it...hatched into a rock. Again. Though I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be a ghost popping out of this one like last time.

Has anyone seen this kind before? It kind of looks like one of those Easter Island heads. And also my dad... Apparently it's like a natural compass or something? The pokedex made it sound pretty nea-- [He cuts off as the Nosepass suddenly starts glowing and making a strange high-pitched whine-like noise. You know, the kind that might be associated with something that's about to blow up.]

Uh...okay, that's weird. Why is it glowing like... [Realization get] Oh fu--

[The feed clicks off as John (presumably) realizes what's about to happen and runs for cover. To anyone on the end of Route 34 near Goldenrod or somewhere near the entrance of said City, you may or may not have just heard a minor explosion. Depends on how far away you are and how good your hearing is.]

((ooc: The egg originally belonged to Clubs Deuce prior to him leaving Johto. It was his Easter egg, hence why it knows Explosion. Yay egg moves. Also, responses will come in a few hours when I get back from visiting my parents))

Hehe, yeah, I'm fine! Apparently it's also an exploding rock in addition to a compass rock. But I got away in time, so it's all good!

I wouldn't have expected a Moai head to explode like that! Is it all right after exploding?

Yeah, it was the last thing I expected as well. And funnily enough, it seems to be fine. It's just barely hanging in there though. Which is weird, because Explosion is a one-hit K.O. move. So...it should have fainted from that. I'm sure there was a reason though, I'll just have to figure it out later.

[Sturdy is an amazing ability.]

Maybe it's different when it's your pokemon verses a wild one?

Maybe! Or maybe it wasn't actually Explosion...maybe it was another move that kinda looked like it. Hmm...I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. Anyway, my name is John, what's yours?

Oh, yes I can do that. Actually, why haven't I done that yet? That's a very good idea, thank you for reminding me. [Give him a minute...switching features and scanning...]

Hm. Looks like it was Explosion. Though apparently he has an ability called Sturdy. Which...sounds like it might have had something to do with it. Huh. Fun stuff.

Heeh, so it works like a combo? Useful! Does Sturdy always let him keep one HP? If so, as long as he gets initiative, he always has a win no matter what his HP are at!

Looks like it only works once. So, he would be able to take out the first pokémon in a trainer battle, but then if he tried it again it wouldn't work. Still, it really is a pretty good combination.

Un! And for wild encounters, it'd be perfect, since there's only one there.

Hehe, yeah. Though still...I would feel kind of bad making him explode all the time. I think it will just be a "once-in-a-while" move. So how long have you been in Johto, Bakura?

Yeah, it really doesn't feel like it though. Time flies here. Plus, I really enjoy it here, so that helps.

Yeah... this place is really great. I wouldn't mind staying that long or longer.

Hehe. I am hoping for "forever," personally. I know it's possible to stay here for a while, since there are apparently some people who have been here for a whole year already.
