prank #20 | video / action route 34

[The sight greeting you when John's pokegear clicks on today?]

[Yup. That sure is a freshly-hatched Nosepass sitting in the grass in front of John's legs. They have to be John's legs, because who else in Johto wears bright red shoes with flames on them? Seems for once he's filming his own post.]

So that mysterious egg that I asked about a while back finally hatched. I still have no idea where this thing came from, but I am beginning to think that it belonged to someone who is no longer here. But anyway. Yeah it...hatched into a rock. Again. Though I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be a ghost popping out of this one like last time.

Has anyone seen this kind before? It kind of looks like one of those Easter Island heads. And also my dad... Apparently it's like a natural compass or something? The pokedex made it sound pretty nea-- [He cuts off as the Nosepass suddenly starts glowing and making a strange high-pitched whine-like noise. You know, the kind that might be associated with something that's about to blow up.]

Uh...okay, that's weird. Why is it glowing like... [Realization get] Oh fu--

[The feed clicks off as John (presumably) realizes what's about to happen and runs for cover. To anyone on the end of Route 34 near Goldenrod or somewhere near the entrance of said City, you may or may not have just heard a minor explosion. Depends on how far away you are and how good your hearing is.]

((ooc: The egg originally belonged to Clubs Deuce prior to him leaving Johto. It was his Easter egg, hence why it knows Explosion. Yay egg moves. Also, responses will come in a few hours when I get back from visiting my parents))

Let me guess: self destruct?

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Actually it was explosion. But that's basically the same move so...yup! Sure was.

Oh right... that upgraded one. Tch.

Why do all the rocks seem to know it? It's like tripping over cannonballs.

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-04 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea, but they all seem to do, don't they? I never really stopped and thought about it. Cannonballs though? Are you a pirate or something?

Like hell.

I'm a marine.

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, sorry! My bad. I just didn't realize that Marines used cannonballs.

You knew pirates did... but not marines?

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-08 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well I thought that the Marine Corps used guns. Like all other branches of the military. Unless...uh, does "marine" mean something different in your world?
justicereigns: (this is why you protect your guns)

[voice]

[personal profile] justicereigns 2011-07-09 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
We do. Rifles, swords, cannons, devil fruits, ships, the works.

Beats me kid. Do your marines work on the side of justice, sail the ocean and get station in ports and keep law and order against pirates and their ilk?

video

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
...Devil fruits? What are those?

Sort of. They work for justice and protect their country and sometimes I think they sail the ocean. Though that may be more of a Navy thing. But uh...no they usually don't fight pirates. Pirates don't really exist in my world anymore. Not in the seafaring sense, anyway.

Something in my world that gives powers similar to what Pokemon can do here, only a lot more specific.

Tch. Your world is lucky then.

voice; oh my god...i did not mean for that to switch. please ignore my fail. orz

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
So they only give you one power instead of a variety, then?

We used to have pirates a long time ago.
justicereigns: (I'm listening)

Oh no problem, I hadn't even noticed

[personal profile] justicereigns 2011-07-13 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's exactly it.

What made the pirates stop?

[voice] ffff, okay good. ; ;

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-17 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. That's interesting.

I'm not sure, exactly. It might have something to do with the fact that we aren't really much of a seafaring world anymore. Airtravel is faster. Not that we don't still use ships sometimes. Nowadays we're more concerned with electronic pirates. People that steal music and movies and other copyrighted stuff like that.
justicereigns: (?)

[voice] XD

[personal profile] justicereigns 2011-07-18 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Airtravel? Is that common?

[Awkward pause. He's not sure what any of that means.] Electronic pirates? Are they all robots or cyborgs?

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-19 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's pretty common. It's the fastest way to travel long distances.

No, they're regular people. But they use computers to steal things. Data, mostly.
justicereigns: (I'm listening)

[voice]

[personal profile] justicereigns 2011-07-20 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds convenient.

What... information? You mean they break into government files?

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's very convenient.

Some do. But that takes more talent than most people have. Most electronic pirates stick to simple things like music, movies, or software. So that they don't have to go out and actually buy said items. They just have them in a digital format.
justicereigns: (Confused Justice)

[voice]

[personal profile] justicereigns 2011-07-21 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you steal music? It's sound.

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You steal the digital recordings. I'm not exactly sure how the process works, but you can record sound and then turn sound into data in my world. And then you can do lots of things with that data: burn it onto a CD, keep it on your computer, put it on a portable music player, or, in the case of electronic pirates, steal it.

[Pinches the bridge between his eyes.]

All right, songs get recorded onto records. And your pirates, rather than steal the record, re-record the song themselves so that they can keep it without buying it, is that right?

Re: [voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
...Basically, yes!

[Wow, you're good at short and simple explanations, mister.]
justicereigns: (that idiot)

[voice]

[personal profile] justicereigns 2011-07-22 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is what being a cop + an antisocial bastard will get you. Do not follow his example kiddies.]

That sounds completely lame. Some musicians are pirates in my world so far too many songs wind up supporting the idea. Who decided to call the sound thieves pirates? Next they'll complain about recording sounds of the ocean belonging to the seagulls in the background.

[ooc: .... I feel the need to point out now that I spend $400+ yearly on music because I don't dl on principle. =\ So arguing this is funny, but freaking weird.]

[voice]

[identity profile] usedwindything.livejournal.com 2011-07-23 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry to hear that. It must be pretty annoying for you. But uh...I'm not really sure who decided to call them that. People just...do.

((ooc: RP is magical, isn't it? Also I'm going to take a moment to tell you that this is the most fun I've had in a cross-canon thread in a while. :D))

[voice]

[personal profile] justicereigns 2011-07-23 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Tch. All right. Well, real pirates attack shipping lines and hold people ransom, sometimes turn into slavers or murderers, either way they're a lot more criminal than petty thieves like that.

[ooc: SO magical. Also awww adkjsalkdj I'm flattered <33 It's so much fun *_*]
