He just doesn't really care because the conversation he's having with his Sandile is far more important, obviously. The two are sitting under a tree just outside of Celadon City and appear to have been there for a while. Pinned to John's over-shirt is a shiny new Rainbow Badge.]

He has a few smudges of dirt on his face and his hair is even messier than normal, complete with bits of grass and twig stuck in it.]
