[Hello everyone, what are you up to this fine summer evening? Out training perhaps? Playing with your Pokémon? Sitting down to a delicious dinner? Maybe doing a little shopping before all the stores close?]

[Well whatever you're doing, no matter how much you are minding your own business, you may soon find yourself with a +1.]

[John has no idea what's going on, one minute he was in the middle of his anniversary dinner with Rose and the next, he's lord only knows where with whoever "you" happen to be. Not that "you" aren't good company, and all! But it's kind of rude to leave your significant other in the middle of a date. But the worst part?]

[It keeps happening.]

[Whatever is doing this isn't content to let him stay in one place for very long. He keeps disappearing and reappearing with a quiet "zap!" every few of minutes, sometimes appearing back at the restaurant and other times appearing someplace else entirely. Dammit, can't a guy just eat in peace? This is terrible.]

[Why on Earth did he box that weird Pokémon he caught last night... better yet, why did he catch it at all?!]

[ Okay, so Naegi is trying to have a good time playing fetch with his Growlithe (it keeps his mind off the weird stuff that is going on) around the outskirts of Ecruteak City when this guy appears out of nowhere just as he threw the stick.

...Which John probably should try dodging. ]

Eh?!

[WHACK!]

[Yeah, dodging would have been a good thing to do. But that would have involved John having razor-sharp reflexes (or at least semi-decent ones). Which he doesn't. He takes the brunt of the stick-based trauma straight to the side of the head.]

[Tonight just keeps getting better and better.]

Gah!

[ Naegi sort of just...stares for a second before he manages to actually say something. ]

Are you okay?

[Yes, good this is a pretty typically reaction to John's amazing feats of stupidity. He rubs at the side of his head before picking the stick up.]

Yeah, I'm fine, haha. [He glances over to the Growlithe and then points at the stick.] I am going to guess that this was meant for him, yeah?

Thank goodness... And yeah, that stick's for Taiki. [ The Growlithe lets out a bark and wags its tail like some sort of maniac. ]

Sorry about that, by the way. I didn't expect anyone to just show up like that.

It's fine, don't even worry about it, man. [John laughs before tossing the stick Taiki's way. Fetch!!!]

That has kind of become my theme for the evening. Showing up when people least expect it. So it's hardly your fault.

[ Taiki manages to catch the stick mid-air like a boss. ]

So it's been happening all evening? That sounds irritating. I'm Naegi, by the way. I think we spoke over the network a few weeks ago.

[Good doggy!]

Oh it most definitely is. [He's smiling when he says it, but somehow you can just tell he's at least a little frustrated with this turn of events.]

But yes I think we did! And once before that too, if I remember right. Haha how did we never... [He offers his hand to Naegi for a shake.] John Egbert, nice to meet you Naegi!

You too, Egbert-kun. [ Naegi smiles, and gives John's hand a firm, brief shake. ]

It's probably related to the weird things that's been going on recently. Where were you before you ended up here of all places?

[ Meanwhile Taiki hurries back to John with the stick in its mouth. The middle of said stick appears to be on fire. Oops. ]

Uh... In the beginning? Saffron. But I have been here and there and everywhere since then. Mahogany, Violet, Celadon, Goldenrod... probably a few other places I am forgetting about here and there.

[It's been...quite the trip. John looks down at the Growlithe, unable to prevent himself from laughing a little.] You uh...seem to have set your stick on fire there, little guy!
