[John has no idea what's going on, one minute he was in the middle of his anniversary dinner with Rose and the next, he's lord only knows where with whoever "you" happen to be. Not that "you" aren't good company, and all! But it's kind of rude to leave your significant other in the middle of a date. But the worst part?]

[It keeps happening.]

[Whatever is doing this isn't content to let him stay in one place for very long. He keeps disappearing and reappearing with a quiet "zap!" every few of minutes, sometimes appearing back at the restaurant and other times appearing someplace else entirely. Dammit, can't a guy just eat in peace? This is terrible.]

[Why on Earth did he box that weird Pokémon he caught last night... better yet, why did he catch it at all?!]

[Astrid just doesn't understand this at all.] If you say so. I don't get how catching something weird could send you teleporting...or stick you somewhere...

[But she shrugs, because this world is generally insane.]

Astrid. So how long do you have before you poof again?

I don't understand it either but... it's probably one of those things that's just better not to question.

Nice to meet you, Astrid. I have no idea how long I have though. It varies from poof to poof, but it's usually not much longer than five minutes or so. Random but am I right in assuming that your Sentret is responsible for that patch of charred grass there?

Yeah, this is fuzzball. [The little sentret chitters at John from where she has perched on Astrid's shoulder.] She refuses to evolve, so I've just been teaching her TMs to make up for it.

[A level 100 firebreathing squirrel.]

...So where have you ended up?

Heh, not a bad idea. That's probably the best thing about normal types though, the how many different type moves they can learn. Who expects something like a Sentret or a Dunsparce to breathe fire or ice? Nobody, that's who.

[Your reasoning is so much better than his, Astrid. Don't be like John. Don't teach your Pokémon things just "because you can."]

I've been literally all over though. Saffron, Mahogany, Violet, Goldenrod, midair on a Skarmory... basically here there and everywhere.

One of the gym leaders had a nervous breakdown when I beat her with Fuzzball.

[Astrid grins a bit wickedly. She enjoyed that...]
