[The video feed clicks on at three o'clock in the morning, a curious looking Eevee's face taking up the screen. She nudges the camera with her nose a bit, as though trying to straighten the camera. She then disappears off-screen, revealing a lovely nighttime view of route 32. A little ways away stand two human figures, accompanied but a Gastly which appears to be in the middle of a battle. The image is kind of wobbly and low to the ground, indicating that, once again, a pokémon has gotten a hold of his or her trainer's pokegear. Since one of the trainers is clearly John (for those of you who know him), it should be fairly obvious who the pokémon operating the camera is. ~~Hint: it isn't Sassacre.~~]

Night Shade again, Slimer.

[John doesn't sound nearly as enthusiastic as usual. This is one of the side effects of being dragged out of your hotel room at 9pm and being forced into a non-stop grinding session. Rose, you are a slave driver.]

[Slimer however, seems to be pretty enthusiastic still (probably because he's only been the focus of this training session for the past forty five minutes or so) and obliges, finishing his opponent with glee.]

Wooo! That was good. Okay...can we go back to the hotel now, Rose? Are we done here yet?

I'm not certain, John. Has Slimer evolved yet?

...No.

[There are a few Buneary and Eevee equivalents of giggles from nearby off-screen as John gives Rose a look that says something along the lines of "Are you serious?!" In return, Rose gives him one that says "Quite, now get a move on." Realizing that he's fighting a losing battle here, John groans and begins shuffling through the grass in search of another random wild pokemon for Slimer to defeat. Notebook in hand, Rose follows after him, eager to add more strategies to the growing list on the pages of her notebook.]

((OOC: Video tags will get a response from John, Rose, or both once Slimer has finally evolved. Rose is determined to have John level-grind until his pokémon are strong enough to take on the gym, he's not allowed to answer the 'gear till she's satisfied.))

But only sort of? You really need to keep an idea in mind. It's best to be prepared.

Hey, whatever works, right? [Don't knock his methods, you are dealing with the master of discipline here, don'tcha know?]

I know it is. But it's easier to focus on one thing at a time. instead of trying to worry about gym strategies and training at the same time. Plus strategy really isn't my thing to begin with. [He just goes with it till something works. It worked back home, it'll work here too!]

I suppose so. He seems to be listening to you, which is quite the improvement.

[[Her amusement is gone at that second statement however, and she sighs.]] If you go in there with little belief that you'll win on top of having no strategy, John, you are far more likely to fail.

I didn't say I wouldn', just that I'm not going to worry about it right this second. Why are you so set on me getting a badge anyway? I mean, it's nice and all but...why does it matter?

From what I've gathered, the entire point of being a Trainer rather than a Breeder is to earn these badges. I've also heard that by obtaining the, you are given certain privileges as well, though I've yet to ascertain what.

Plus, if you are able to now, why not? Instead of the hassle of having to come back around?

Well in the games the badges let you use HM moves outside of battle and made pokémon up to certain levels obey you. I'm not sure if that's the case here though I haven't had much trouble getting mine to listen to me no matter what level they are. Okay...well Rose is an exception, but that's for another reason entirely.

Even though it's a hassle to double back around...I want to be absolutely sure I can beat him. I don't want any of my pokémon to get really hurt, you know?

And...I think you missed the point of what I was asking though, Rose. Why do you care if I get one or not? I mean, Jade's a trainer too, are you dragging her out in the middle of the night for training sessions too?

[[You can tell she's about to answer, eyes rolling at his reply and mouth opening to say something, but sort of...falling closed again at his questions. Those struck a bit of a chord inside her, and she wasn't exactly sure what it was.

After all. Why was she focusing so much on John? Jade was indeed a trainer too, she likely had Pokemon capable of contending, and had yet to challenge the gym as far as she knew...]]

[[Looking away with a huff, her cheeks flush a little and obviously on the defensive.]]

Jade obviously has Soul to encourage her into challenging the gym. She doesn't need my help. Dave has Karkat at the very least, not that he needs encouragement of his own. I've yet to see anyone make comment on your ability to defeat it, which in my opinion is well enough on it's own without my help, however you haven't been trying. So I am simply offering my assistance. I apologize if it's become a bother.

[Just, this face.]

[[Let's change the subject to something safer.]]

Oh! Y-Yeah, you're right. Um...I'm just going to...go over here...

[...And very awkwardly disappear into the tall grass to go look for Slimer. Where did you get to, you silly floating ball of gas?]

[[And once he's gone, she's going to sigh and rub at her face a little. This was stupid. Perhaps she shouldn't be helping him. If he doesn't want to, why should she make him?]]

[From somewhere in the grass...]

Just be sure to watch for Bellsprouts. Unlike Slimer, you are not as worthy for battle.

I know, I know. This is me, looking out for Bellsprouts. You will be happy to know that there are no Bellsprouts in the vicinity. Or anything else. Honestly, Bellsprouts are on the bottom of my list o--AUUGHHHH!!

[[That does not sound like the kind of noise one would make if there were no Bellsprouts. Out comes Halos, her Mareep, and into the grass they go.]]

Dammit John, I told you to be careful.

[[Searching, searching.]]

[Nope, not Bellsprouts! You missed it, but he actually just got a giant, sloppy, chest-to-face lick from his newly-evolved Haunter. Unfortunately, said Haunter has since disappeared, leaving a disgusted looking John wiping his glasses off with the edge of his shirt.]

[[Blinking a moment, she tilts her head.]]

What are you doing, John?

[[She is completely oblivious to the fact there is a Haunter lurking in the grass right now.]]

Trying to clean Haunter spit off my glasses. Ugh this is gross. [He holds them up and squints at the lenses. Good enough. He puts them back on, just in time to look over and see Slimer reappear behind Rose. All the color drains from his face. All of it. he opens his mouth to say something, but all that comes out is a strangled sort of "Aaa--!"]

[Dare you turn around, Rose?]

[[What is that look for, John? Why do you look so terrified?

What's this? Halos looks frightened too? Whatever could be the matter?

Tuuuuuuurrn....]]

[WHY HELLO THERE, ROSE. HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS EVENING? As you turn around, you will be greeted with a floating purple head with a giant creepy grin plastered across his face and a maniac look in his eye. He is right up in your face. ~~How does this make you feel?~~]

Hauunt!

[He cackles and opens his jagged line of a mouth, revealing a long pink tongue which he proceeds to run it right across Rose's face.]

[John. Is. Horrified.]

[[Just. Going rigid.]]

...h-hello. Slimer.

[[Pat to the head for the Haunter. Not really sure what to do about all of that ghost drool.]]
