Was there some kind of Johto holiday that I missed? I found another egg when I woke up yesterday and I have no idea where it came from. It's in the box right now so I can't show it but...if anyone is missing an egg, let me know.

[The egg actually belonged to Clubs Deuce but he has no idea. Anyway, now that that's out of the way he can move on to his second order of business. The real reason he made this post. He holds up a small, red thing.]

I got my badge, Karkat so I'm ready to go whenever ev-- [A loud cracking noise cuts him off mid-word.] Oh shit. [He shrugs his backpack off one of his shoulders, reaching back and opening it up, mumbling something to himself as he roots around in his bag for a second.]

I really hope that was the sound of hatching and not breaking...Huh? The hell? [He pulls out a square-ish, beige-ish rock with a crack and two dots on it.] Did my egg seriously just hatch into a rock? Is this thing even al--AHHHHH!!!

[At that exact moment, a purple and green something popped out of the rock with a spirited, cackling "TOMB!!!" causing John to flail backwards, dropping the pokémon in alarm. Though it falls off screen for a second, it appears a moment later. Hello, Johto. Have a cackling Spiritomb face all up in your video feed before the now-trembling video feed is cut off with a squeak by a terrified Lopunny camera-girl.]

Apparently she cries when you beat her and tries to ask you out on a date. Though now that I think about it, those might actually be in the opposite order. Or maybe she cries, asks you out, and then cries more if you say no? I don't really know. But Shinn told me she was a lot more trouble than she was worth.

[He seems to have success with getting his Spiritomb's stats to show up on the pokedex, because the next moment he has a one of those "a-ha!" grins on his face.]

Oh, hey. Did you know that floating ghost rocks can have genders? It's a girl! [Topic A.D.D., yup.]

Well that doesn't sound too bad. And oh really? That certainly shortens your available ghost-movie-reference names a bit, doesn't it?

How does that not sound too bad? I'm kind of freaking out a little. I don't like seeing girls cry and I like making them cry even less!

And actually...yes. Yes it does. The list of ghost girls in movies is considerable shorter than--hey! I don't have a naming theme, Rose! We went through this already. [Yeah, he's a little indignant.]

John, honestly. If she does this with everyone, there's no reason to feel guilty. She is likely just seeking attention, and will use whatever tactic to guilt the other into giving it to her, or to goad others into giving her what she wants.

[[With a careless shrug, she smirked at the second statement.]]

And yet you still first addressed that the list of ghost girls in movies is shorter than that of boys.

I...guess you're right. [He's still going to feel bad about it though.]

And I only did it because I wasn't thinking. It was just...habit. Instinct even, a deeply-conditioned reflex. I had to say it. But that doesn't mean I'm going to name her after anything from a movie.

Oh no? Then what will you name her?

Um. Uh...

[Can you see the gears turning in his head, Rose? You can probably hear them at least. He's thinking really hard about this.]

Um? Uh? Those don't sound like the most charming of names.

[[It's okay, John. She will give you all the time you need.]]

They weren't names! I'm thinking! Give me a second.

[[Chuckling, she shuts up now, waiting.]]

[He holds up his index finger in the universal sign of "shoosh woman, I'm trying to think!" This requires utmost concentration, Rose. Pokemon nicknames are serious business.]

...Tera? [He sounds a bit hesitant for some reason.]

Any particular reason you chose that name?

[Rose...you're about to get a first-hand look into John's thought processing. Prepare yourself.]

Well I'm not one hundred percent sure if I'll go with it but I was thinking...poltergeist. And not the movie! Just the word! As in a mischievous ghost! Which is a thing that she is. But that's not really a name so I shortened it to Geist. Because that sounds like a pretty cool name for a ghost, right? But it doesn't really sound like a girl's name, so I took the "Ter" from the middle and added an a to the end.

I'm not sure if I really like it or not. Oltera? Terageist? Hmm...maybe if I scramble the letters up more... [It shouldn't be this hard. But it is.]

[[As John explains, Rose can't stop her smile from widening.]]

...very creative, John. Clever, even.

Though Geist wouldn't be too terribly bad a name. Oltera almost sounds like a Greek letter as well.

[He grins. See, he can be creative and clever when he wants to.]

Well, what do you think? [He looks at the Spiritomb.] Any of those sound good to you?

Spir!

Right okay...um let's try it this way? Oltera? [She narrows her eyes and just stares at him, clearly displeased.]

Okay, not that one. How about Tera? [A jagged smile and a happy Spiiii!]

Alright then, Tera it--what?! Why are you looking at me like that? [Frown, John. FROWN. Your pokemon is still not satisfied!]

Spiritomb!

...Geist? [And now she's happy again!] Well which one?!

Tomb tomb!

Tera-Geist?

SPIIIRRRRRRRIIIII!!! [Seems she approves, if the fact that she's nuzzling John is any indication. Ghosts can be affectionate too! And now John's just giggling.]

Alright, okay. Tera-Geist it is.

[[John, this is Rose laughing.]]

[Oh goodness this is a rare sight. Once John remembers that he was in the middle of a conversation with a person, he'll be pretty shocked to see it!]

Hehe...what?

You're ridiculous is all. You and Miss Tera-Geist both.

Is that her name then?

Well I guess that means we're destined to be a good team then. A team of ridiculousness.

And that seems to be what she wants it to be so...that's what it is! Pfftt, maybe I should call her TG every once in a while. Dave would probably get a kick out of that.

Oh yes, I'm sure he would love to be likened to a Pokemon. Careful though, you might inflate his ego with that.

"How sweet of you, Egbert, naming a Pokemon after me."

Psshh, Tera-Geist is nothing like Dave. She's way cooler. Isn't that right, girl? Tomb! Yeah, she knows what's up.

[He goes to scratch her chin...wait she doesn't...okay. Um...head pat? Yeah okay, that kind of works.]

This is just a funny coincidence.

Don't let Dave hear you say that. You'll break his heart, John.

[[Another chuckle, followed by a shake of her head.]]

Good, though. Prick is enough Dave-like Pokemon for me.

Don't worry, I love him too much to ever say something so heart-wrenchingly awful in front of him.

What a relief to know. As interested in the workings of his mind as I am, I'm not sure how well I would deal with the breakdown that would ensue. He simply wouldn't be able to cope with that, John. With a lack of your adoration.

Oh don't lie, Rose. You would love watching that breakdown. And the resulting therapy. Too bad it will never happen.
