[For once, there is no smile on John's face when he turns on the video feed. Instead there is a look of tired, barely-restrained panic on his face. Also unusual are the stacks of books surrounding him. Someone went to the library. Someone found every book they could on ghosts and legends.]

[Someone stayed up all night reading all those books, and it definitely shows.]

[Barely visible on the couch behind him is a lavender-clad body laid out on the couch. The face isn't visible, but to anyone who knows her, the clothes should be recognizable as those of Rose Lalonde.]

Has... [His voice is the tiniest bit shaky. He's really trying his hardest to stay calm here.] Anyone figured anything out yet? About the people who were taken, I mean? And how to get them back? I talked to a few people about it last night but...heh, it's a different day now, right? [There's a very forced, weak laugh.] I read every book I could find...but they aren't telling me anything more than the pokédex did.

[It's a little late for "don't look in their backs."]

So...yeah. If anyone knows something, I would appreciate it.

[He gives the camera once last slightly desperate look before clicking it off.]

[[Guile had been perched next to Rose's head for the duration of the video, listening intently to the boy whilst nuzzling her trainer's cheek. Not really trying to wake her up anymore, mostly for comforting herself. Once it's obvious he's done recording, however, she gingerly hops down from her spot and rubs up against his side, underneath his arm.]]

[Startled, he jumps a bit as he looks down to see exactly what it was that brushed against him.]

Oh...hey, Guile.

[Would you like a scratch behind the ear? Because that is what you are getting right now.]

[[She would indeed, leaning against his side and gently curling her tail around his back.]]

[Crow doesn't say anything for a moment -- he looks as he means to, but seems to believe that as long as he doesn't say it aloud, it won't be true. Finally, he lets out a sigh, his breathing shaky.]

Nah, I got nothing.

... We're gonna bring 'em back.

[Whether he's trying to convince John or himself of that is up for discussion.]

[[Getting back up, she moves to occupy his lap, resting her chin on his leg.]]

[There's a slight pause.]

[It's a question, but...he's pretty sure that he knows the answer.]

Shedinjas happened. The little bug-looking shells that have been flying around everywhere. They're...stealing people's souls or something. If you look in their backs then...well. [He turns the camera so that Rose's face is visible. She's just staring. At nothing. She's alive, obviously, but that's really all that can be said.] This happens.

[He begins to idly stroke from the top of her head all the way down her back. Then back up to the head. And down the back. And repeat as necessary.]

No, Really. I'm fine. I'm worried but...someone will figure this out. I'm not sleeping till she's awake again.

[[Flicking her tail idly at the affections, she relaxes a little.]]

_{[And as Stitch hears that, his face goes pale. Had he still had his huge ears, they would've dropped.]}

S-steal souls? Are you sure?

That's what all the books say. And the Pokédex entry. I didn't look so I honestly don't know how true it is. So...yeah. Don't look. It's probably best just to stay away from the damn things altogether.

You don't know that. Something already did happen. What if one of them gets in here? What if something happens to her while she's out? [He pauses. He doubts this next one will happen but...he can hope, right?] What if she snaps out of it? I don't want to be asleep if any of those things happen.

Yeah... Same here.

[He frowns and opens his mouth to protest -- he hasn't "lost" anyone, it's only temporary, they're gonna be back soon, they're not lost -- but then he realizes it's not the best time for denial. Biting his lip, he slowly nods.]

[[Raising her head to look up at him, she nudges his chin.]]

Woah. Uhm. Okay, Stitch will stay away. Faaar away. Thanks for warning.

And uuh... Hope your friend gets better.

Well...hopefully somebody has to know something. One of the weird NPC-locals or whatever. I'm sure it's just a matter of time...

[There's just no way that everyone in Johto is at a complete loss on what to do. He hopes not, anyway.]

The waiting game just...really sucks.

Well...she's been out since yesterday afternoon. And the only time I left her was to run to the library, so I don't know if it's still happening. But I wouldn't doubt it, honestly.

[She's silent for a moment.]

It's....it's those stupid bugs.

And I don't want to fail again either. So. No sleep. And that's that.

[Sorry Guile, he's doing that thing where he's stupidly stubborn. He's a little caught off-guard by that last statement though.]

Yeah...I'm hesitant to try and fight them though. I worry that the same thing will happen to my pokémon if they aren't careful. And I don't want to lose them too.

[For once, he's actually stopping and thinking instead of acting on impulse.]

[[She seems to sigh, moving to rest her chin on his shoulder now. She's restless.]]
