[For once, there is no smile on John's face when he turns on the video feed. Instead there is a look of tired, barely-restrained panic on his face. Also unusual are the stacks of books surrounding him. Someone went to the library. Someone found every book they could on ghosts and legends.]

[Someone stayed up all night reading all those books, and it definitely shows.]

[Barely visible on the couch behind him is a lavender-clad body laid out on the couch. The face isn't visible, but to anyone who knows her, the clothes should be recognizable as those of Rose Lalonde.]

Has... [His voice is the tiniest bit shaky. He's really trying his hardest to stay calm here.] Anyone figured anything out yet? About the people who were taken, I mean? And how to get them back? I talked to a few people about it last night but...heh, it's a different day now, right? [There's a very forced, weak laugh.] I read every book I could find...but they aren't telling me anything more than the pokédex did.

I'm...kind of scared to try and fight them without more information. I don't want something like this to happen to one of my pokémon too. Because they are also my friends. But you're there for your travel partner, right? So you're not...completely useless. Though, I know how you feel. Because that's pretty much how I feel right now.

What city is your friend in? If he's in Goldenrod I can see if I can find him and watch him for you.

[Midori nods.] Athrun thinks they don't steal pokemon souls, although maybe it's just that it hasn't happened to anyone's pokemon yet?

I hope not. If they can't then I know how I will be spending the next few...however long it takes to get Rose back. My pokémon should be more than strong enough. [He has a level 55 Dunsparce and he is not afraid to use it. Shedinjas best watch themselves.]

I only thought of them because this is what she would have done if it were the other way around. And even then it took me a while to think of that... [He panicked for a few hours first, then thought about what Rose would do.]

Oh...I'm sorry. Well when I looked on the network earlier it saw a lot of pokémon being the ones taking care of and protecting their trainers...I'm sure...I'm sure they found someone to help him. He'll be okay.

I need to find a way to train my pokemon so they can fight these things...

Of course they will. Tking care of their trainers is pretty much what they live for. I was just talking to Rose's Espeon about it and...yeah. His pokémon will take care of him.

[She nods.] I will... Do you think goggles or something would protect my soul? Or sunglasses?

I hope so... A-are there hospitals in this world?

I don't honestly know. It's probably safer just to...not look or close your eyes or wear a blindfold or something. Because you can still see them even through goggles or shades...

I think the Pokémon centers actually function as a little of both. The nurses seem to be just as capable of treating humans as they are of pokémon.

I guess I'll have to figure something out... I really can't wander around with my eyes closed...

I guess I'm thinking of it in normal-earth terms... You know, separation of hospital and vet.

Yeah...I guess just be careful where you look. If it looks like one is about to turn around then close your eyes really quick?

That would make sense. But maybe because pokémon are so important here, and more than just pets, it's a little bit different. I never really stopped to think about it.

[Midori nods.] Hopefully that'll work!

I just would think that different doctors would be used for different types, at least... I mean, can the same doctor treat a fire lizard as can treat a jellyfish?
